We are looking to recruit to a Specialty Doctor post within our Emergency Department at the Wrexham Maelor District General Hospital.

We are looking for doctors who have at least one year’s experience in Emergency Medicine. We have a highly motivated and clinically skilled middle grade team and are looking for like minded people, with good leadership and teaching skills to join us.

The Wrexham ED consultants provide a hands-on service and lead the department. The clinical practice is unrestricted to include all emergency activity e.g. sedation, ultrasound, NIV, cardioversion, airway management, CDU medicine, clinics etc.

The consultants work alongside middle grades and share the burden of unsocial hours working.

The job attracts 11 PAs which include 2 SPA sessions. The rota is sustainable with one evening shift a week, one in four weekends (either 9am-5pm or 5pm-1am) with no on call commitments. Nights involve doing 4 nights in a row (12mn-8am) every 16 weeks as the consultants also take part in equivalent night cover rota.

We have a robust clinical governance structure and pride ourselves on being a forward thinking and proactive in embracing change.

Wrexham is a district Genera lHospital in North East Wales close to the English border. It has excellent dual carriageway connections to the main motorway system. Chester is 13 miles, Manchester 54 miles and Liverpool 40 miles from Wrexham by road. The countryside surrounding Wrexham is exceedingly attractive; Cheshire, North Shropshire, the Berwyn Mountains, Llangollen and the DeeValley are all within 15 miles of the hospital. The Snowdonia National Park is less than an hour away.
