Full time (10 Sessions)

Applications are invited to apply for the post of ‘Consultant Psychiatrist of Older Persons Mental Health covering Conwy, North Wales.

The post is based at Bryn Hesketh, Colwyn Bay.

The older person community mental health provides a county wide service to people over the age of 65 living in Conwy. Medical input is provided by two consultants supported by an associate specialist doctor.

The County of Conwy has an over 65 population of approximately 29,000. The current post provides medical input for people open to the team living in East Conwy. The main centers of population are the towns of Colwyn Bay, Old Colwyn and Abergele. There are also more rural areas. The catchment area of the current post is an over 65 population of approximately 13,500. Older people’s mental health services are going through a process of review as part of adopting a new mental health strategy.


Conwy is superbly located in North Wales, an area of outstanding natural beauty, within easy reach of Chester, Liverpool & Manchester.

You are required to be on the Specialist Register, have CCT or recognised equivalent, or be within 6 months of obtaining it at the time of interview.

The successful candidates will be appointed to the amended Welsh Consultant Contract.

In view of recent changes to Home Office Immigration Regulations all applicants must state their current immigration status, including expiry dates.
