Glaucoma Fellow

This is a new and exciting opportunity to work alongside Mrs Divya Mathews who has been developing the glaucoma service at the Stanley Eye Unit as lead consultant with an interest in glaucoma since 2009.

Currently over 240 Glaucoma procedures are performed by Mrs Mathews annually and she is overseeing the development of the management of glaucoma outpatients within the Ophthalmic Diagnostic and Treatment Centre programme (ODTC).  We are currently developing the use of ‘virtual clinics’ in the management of glaucoma patients and the successful candidate will gain useful experience in the development of this service.

Mrs Mathews also undertakes MIGS (Cypass, Istent, XEN Implant), trabeculectomy with augmentation and Glaucoma tube surgery. Exposure to complex glaucoma surgery will be available to the successful candidate.  The post will therefore provide broad experience in all aspects of the management of glaucoma patients from both an outpatient and surgical perspective. There will be ample opportunity for the candidate to be involved in research and publications.

The successful candidate must be close to completing their training programme or have already obtained CCT. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will have a high level of expertise in phacoemulsification. The post is available from 1st August 2018, will be paid on the clinical specialist pay scale and is for a fixed period of 12 months.

Please refer to the attached timetable and description of the Stanley Eye Unit for further information.
