An exciting opportunity has arisen for a flexible and motivated individual to join the East Secondary Care Clinical Governance team in the band 7 role supporting the delivery of Clinical Governance across the east secondary care areas.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone wishing to play a significant role in supporting the Clinical Governance Lead Nurse in ensuring that effective structures and processes are in place within East Secondary Care to effectively implement and continuously monitor Clinical Governance activity (i.e. the seven pillars of governance/all governance domains) across the all areas.

Your role will be to work predominantly with the Clinical Governance Lead Nurse along with General Managers, Heads of Nursing, Matron and Clinicians. You will provide leadership and specialist advice, support and feedback on matters relating to clinical governance, including patient safety, clinical risk assessments, and health and safety governance to all grades of staff including both management and clinicians

You will be required to provide a variety of reports in various Microsoft packages to key Strategic Committees regarding clinical and patient safety incidents, and near miss incidents. You will assist in the investigation of all serious incidents (SIs), and internal incidents requiring a higher level of investigation, ensuring that all incidents are reported and effectively investigated (using root cause analysis principles and tools) in line with the Secondary Care requirements and timescales.

Other key responsibilities will focus on the management of concerns and clinical incidents and the post holder will be required to maintain existing quality and risk information and communication systems

You will be educated to degree level or have an equivalent level of experience at a senior level, and have demonstrable experience at a senior level of clinical governance management, or equivalent in a Health or Social care setting or equivalent experience.

You will have a current knowledge of and working within, NICE, Healthcare Inspectorate Wales, Serious incident framework, COSHH, Risk assessments. Patient safety Alerts/Notices, MHRA etc. 

A good knowledge of governance and quality improvement systems would be an advantage. Applicants will require competencies in the use of Microsoft Office applications, have experience or the ability to learn new IT software packages and be able to analyse and present complex data and write reports.
