An exciting opportunity has arisen for a substantive post of Specialty Doctor in Orthodontics. The post holder will be employed by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) with up to 7 sessions at Wrexham Maelor District General Hospital in Wrexham available depending on the experience and qualification of the successful applicant(s).

Applications for less than the maximum number of sessions available will also be given full consideration and the successful candidate must be on the General Dental Council Register with a Dental Degree.


We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic clinician who will help deliver high quality treatment outcomes with a patient centred approach. The successful candidate will treat a broad range of cases include those of a multidisciplinary nature and will have appropriate consultant support.


There are Consultant-led Orthodontic Departments in each of the three District General Hospitals in North Wales which work closely with colleagues in Restorative Dentistry and Maxillofacial surgery to deliver the comprehensive management of complex cases. There are also Primary care based orthodontic specialist practices in primary care in Bangor, Colwyn Bay, Connah’s Quay and Wrexham. There is an Orthodontic Managed Clinical Network for Orthodontic services in North Wales and this post is another step in moving towards a more integrated Consultant led service.


There is an ongoing Specialty Registrar Training Programme through the Welsh Deanery at Wrexham and Post Certificate for Completion of Special Training (Post-CCST) Registrar Training Programme through the Mersey Deanery at Glan Clwyd. Excellent training facilities are available with an extensive library on site.
