There has never been a better time to join our growing team within our Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Division.

Betsi Cadwaladr University Local Health Board is the largest health organisation in Wales, providing a full range of primary, community, mental health and acute hospital services for a population of around 676,000 people across the six counties of North Wales (Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham). The aim of BCUHB is to provide the highest quality care for the population of North Wales. We aim to achieve this through three key values: Dignity, placing a high value on respecting the patient as an individual; Valuing Staff, as individuals and developing their skills appropriately; Efficiency, pursuing efficiency and effectiveness in delivering services.

With a new leadership team in place we’re investing in our services to transform the way they are delivered. We are continuously developing and expanding the range of support, care and treatment we offer to people across North Wales. This includes establishing new exciting roles in our community and inpatient teams and a clear pathway for staff to continue to learn and progress throughout their career.

As part of our growth strategy, BCUHB are currently looking to appoint a Consultant Adult Psychiatrist based in the South Gwynedd (Meirionnydd) area.

The post holder will be responsible for the day to day management of patients from the South Gwynedd (Meirionnydd) area, ensuring that patients are seen in a timely manner, appropriate to their needs. The post holders will be expected to deliver a service to patients under both secondary care CMHT and primary care services where appropriate.

The service will deliver a needs led service and therefore the post holders will be expected to manage those above 65 until such time as their needs are more appropriately met by the Older Persons Mental Health Services (transition arrangements are under review).

The CMHT for South Gwynedd has an overall caseload of 350. It is expected that the post holder will see patients when required by the care coordinator and act as care coordinator for a small case load.

The post holder will be based with the CMHT and work with the integrated/single line team manager to ensure clinical leadership of the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will assist with clinical supervision of the team ensuring that robust management plans are in place for those in whom it is warranted. This will be done as part of a meeting structure where the most clinically complex patients are discussed and reviewed with the whole team.

It is anticipated that the post holder will assist in training of team members in clinical matters.
